Weddings are always delightful and when it comes to the Bollywood weddings it is even more exciting. Recently the couple duo- Athiya Shetty and KL Rahul tied the knot and became the headlines. It is not the first time that there was love between a dashing cricketer and a Bollywood beauty. We have examples like- Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma, Yuvraj Singh and Hazel Keech and Harbhajan Singh and Geeta Sharma. Just like the above couples, this new couple in town were very much in love for the past few years and decided to make their love eternal.

As soon as the internet was flooded by the pictures of the new couple, I couldn’t help to take my eyes off the beautiful couple. Their wedding was so simple yet so sweet. I totally loved the fusion between the Indian and western touch they gave to their wedding functions. Here are some of the things from their wedding that totally left us in awe-
1. The Intimate Affair-

The couple opted for an intimate wedding rather than going extravagant for their wedding functions. All their functions like- the haldi, mehndi, sangeet, puja and the wedding day were beautifully done. They called only their close friends and families for the functions. Isn’t that great? The Covid-19 pandemic has definitely taught us a lot about the intimate weddings and some people are embracing it even now/ Even though there are no guest limits right now, but still many couples are opting for an intimate wedding.
Marriages are all about celebrating the love between the couple and not about thousands of guests. Once again a Bollywood couple opted for intimate weddings just like- Alia and Ranbir and Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal. Athiya and Rahul totally mastered the art of intimate wedding and have set an example for the young crowd and I have all hearts for them.
2. Wedding At Home-

Home weddings are extremely beautiful and lovely. Our home is one place where we like to return after a long day. It offers comfort to one’s soul. Since our home is one place where we see our ups and downs and is always a part of all the major things of our lives. Wedding is a milestone in one’s life. It is a special event where you get together with your close family and friends to celebrate love. Athiya and Rahul took a step forward and got married at Athiya’s house in Lonavala. The decorations at the backdrop of the house looked like a fairy tale.
They even celebrated all their other functions in the garden of their house. This made the ceremonies even more special and fun.
3. The Emphasis on Handwoven Heirloom-

Athiya Shetty opted for simple yet stunning outfits. For her mehndi she opted for- a chikankari lehenga set. Her outfit consisted a 24 kali custom made chikankari. It consisted of pearls, sequins and crystals. She payed a lot of attention to the handicrafts heirloom. She carried 2 dupattas- jaal dupatta and other one with bootis and designs. The 2 dupattas created a dramatic effect. Her designer- Anjul Bhandari gave all her heart out in making the outfit possible and claimed that the ensemble was designed by classic chikankari techniques from the geo tagged region of Awadh. It took almost 18 months and hardworking 12 women to make this lehenga come to what we see it as.
4. Chikankari Fusion for After Party-

Have you ever imagined a fusion chikankari? We all adore chikankari kurtas, tops, dresses. But have you heard of a chikankari pant suit? Yes, that’s what Athiya wore for her After party. She dazzled in an ivory chikankari pant suit by the designer Anjul Bhandari. The stunning bride made a fashion statement with a three piece pant suit with a jacket. The pant suit consisted of intricate chikankari designs. This chikankari fusion was a bold style statement and the bride totally rocked it. I personally feel that it is a casual and comfortable outfit for a after party but I am totally impressed with Athiya who gave it an Indian touch.
5. Ivory- The New Dress Code For Haldi-

Ivory is one of the trending colours of this wedding season. A lot of brides are opting for ivory lehenga but also ivory for their haldi. Gone are the days when one didn’t have many choices apart from yellow. Now days, brides are going for different colours and so did Athiya. She choose a cotton ivory Anarkali with ghaghra which is ideal for summers. Her outfit was designed by the famous fashion designer Ritu Kumar. Her Anarkali was absolutely regal which contained of intricate gota designs. The antique gold work was a work of labour of 2000 hours to create the ethereal outfit. The Anarkali looked super duper comfortable and perfect for a fun haldi.
6. The Saree Saga With A Cause-

A saree can never go out of fashion. Yes, that’s true. No matter which generation we are in, a saree will never go out of fashion. In fact, a saree is one of the classiest piece of cloth created till now. Also, you can never go wrong with a saree. A timeless piece which looks effortless. Athiya too opted for a timeless beauty, she wore a handwoven tissue kanjivaram saree for the muhurathan ceremony. Her saree was of gold colour paired with a fuschia blouse. Keeping this aside, her saree has more to offer, it belongs to a boutique which helps thousands of underprivileged girls. Isn’t that so good? She did not forget to be kind during her wedding too.
7. An offbeat shade of pink for the Wedding Day-

Pink has various shades, in fact all shades are pretty and unique in their own way. Such was the case when Athiya decided to select her wedding lehenga. She opted for an offbeat pink colour lehenga. The lehenga was a blend of pink and nude colour which gave it a totally vintage look. The lehenga was by the renowned fashion designer- Anamika Khanna. It was a chikankari embroidery with vintage gold zardosi and jaal work. The subtle shade of pink was beautiful worn by Athiya. The shade was perfect for a simple afternoon intimate wedding. It seems that Athiya has real love for the Chikankari embroidery as she has incorporated a lot in her many outfits. Also the vintage touch to her every outfit makes it even more chic.
8. The Regal Jewellery Affair-

When it came to accessorising her outfits she opted for statement jewellery pieces which went with her outfit. This is the reason why I say that it’s always good to invest in statement pieces because it makes a bold statement without overdoing things. For her mehndi, she reused the lovely vintage earrings which belonged to her grandmother. She opted for a maang tikka and few bangles by keeping it simple. For her haldi also she opted for a statement Maang tikka which was ideal for haldi look. In the muhuratham ceremony, she went for her traditional South Indian jewellery- A choker and a ghuttapusal neckpiece.
For her wedding day- she opted for polki necklace and a single polki maang tikka along with polki earrings. This gave her a very regal look and was perfect for an afternoon wedding. She also did something different with her kaleras- her kaleras consisted of the 7 vows which is the 7 saptapadi taken in the Hindu marriage. The vows were engraved in the shape of sun along with sunflower shaped kaleras.
9. Minimal Makeup and Hairstyles-

It’s so good to see many girls opting for minimum makeup and hairstyles. The minimal makeup looks so natural and makes them glow. It was so good to see Athiya opting for the same. She kept in mind to keep it minimal to maintain her natural beauty. For her mehndi, she opted for a high tight ponytail, for haldi she opted for soft curls along with braids and for her puja and wedding she went for a traditional bun. Her makeup was subtle and soft in all functions and was totally going along with her looks. Her nude makeup with conventional hairstyles were simply outstanding.
10. But Our Cricketer Boy Was No Less-

We surely have discussed the lovely looks of the bride after all she is a real fashionista. But wait, what about the groom, KL Rahul too stunned in all his outfits during the functions. The cricketer opted for a sage coloured chikankari kurta for the mehndi function. For haldi, he opted for a striped kurta with gave a casual and playful look. For the wedding day, Rahul opted or a ivory coloured sherwani which consisted of 3 pieces- the kurta, pajama and the jacket. He also carried a ivory dupatta around his neck to create an illusion. The cricketer surely bowled us out with his effortless fashion sense.

The Actress-Cricketer duo certainly gave us major goals. The couple is one of the most loved couples in India and people look up to them. It will be so nice to see other couples who are getting married to take inspiration from them. The simplicity and love between them is surely an inspiration. They have proven the fact that one does not have to go out of the way for their wedding day and that even simple rituals and functions are a thing. After all marriage is about celebrating the union of two people in love.
