Recently been invited to an Indian wedding? Curious about what to wear? Indian weddings are full of fun, lot of rituals, dancing, laughter and pretty Indian clothes. For the bride and groom no doubt that outfits are very important, but same goes for the guest. But that doesn’t mean that you have to spend a lot on your clothes. You can easily buy or get something made in your budget.
We all want to look our best, but are you running out of ideas? So here are some ideas on what to wear for an Indian wedding and rock the look.
1. Lehenga- A lehenga is a very good choice if you are very close to the bride or the groom. I would personally recommend wearing a lehenga on the wedding day because it’s the main event out of all the events. Most of the girls in india love lehengas and it’s number one choice for the wedding. But make sure to wear a lehenga which is not too heavy and embellished. If you are very close to the bride it’s best to avoid wearing same colours as hers. You do not want to steal the thunder from the couple.
For lehengas you can visit any shop where fabric is available and get it stiched, you can even buy lehengas online. You can get semi- stitched and ready to wear lehengas online. Try myntra , they have very good selection of lehengas. They are affordable for a guest outfit.

3. Co-ord set- It is not always necessary to wear traditional clothes, these days indo-western clothing is in trend. Co-ord sets like pants with blouse and a cape, skirt with ethnic top and cape, Palazzos with top and tunics. These are very much in trend. These indo- western clothes look very different and I prefer wearing them during the sangeet night when there is a lot of dancing and moving around. Co-ord sets from Indya are very beautiful and different. They are worth the try. You can also find affordable ones on myntra.

4. Suit set- Suit sets are versatile, they are comfortable and can be worn on so many occasions. They look very beautiful when paired with right accessories. It is very important to have a suit which fits you well. A plain suit when paired with a heavy dupatta gives a very different look. I feel suits are very good choice for wearing in the haldi ceremony. They can be easily managed and so have less chances to get a stain. It’s best to wear bright colours for a haldi ceremony since the function is generally in the morning.
5. Sarees- Sarees can never go out of fashion. They are evergreen and makes one look effortlessly elegant and gorgeous. In fact a saree is the safest option for any wedding function. Sarees enhances curves and fits so well on every body type. They look beautiful on all age groups. If it’s a summer wedding opt for a georgette or chiffon saree and if it’s a winter wedding then go for silks. You can borrow a saree from your mother, they have very good collection, use their saree and get a blouse made of your size. I personally like wearing a saree on the reception day but everyone is different. So pick your own choice.
I have shared some basics ideas. There are no hard and fast rule. Remember that it’s important to reuse your outfits and not buy new ones for every occasion. Always remember that weddings are to enjoy so don’t wear anything which doesn’t make you feel comfortable. Be sure to wear something which you can easily carry and enjoy the functions.
